Bringing Climate Finance to Communities: How the Tonga Climate Change Fund (TCCF) is Changing the Climate Finance Approach in Tonga

This high-level side event will be opened by the Prime Minister of Tonga with presentation of a promotional video and a moderated discussion featuring a panel of Tonga’s Prime Minister and Minister for Climate Change, TCCF’s key partner’s the Government of New Zealand, UNDP and technical assistance partner GGGI. Overview of Session: The side-event is intended for government agencies, civil society organizations, development partners, NGOs, academic institutions, and private sector stakeholders with an interest in climate resilience, community development, and climate finance. It will explain the role of TCCF as Tonga’s national climate finance mechanism and highlight lessons learnt since its establishment in 2021, its relevance to national climate and disaster resilience priorities today and in the future, including support for community-based action, strengthened access to climate finance, and improved understanding of available funding opportunities.
