Financing Climate Justice: Establishing Sustainable Development Trust Funds for Riverine Communities Affected by Resource Development in the Pacific

This Pacific-led roundtable will explore how Sustainable Development Trust Funds can strengthen climate resilience, advance Indigenous rights, and deliver equitable benefit-sharing for riverine communities affected by environmental degradation. Drawing on experiences from Papua New Guinea and the wider Pacific, the session will bring together Indigenous leaders, governments, climate finance experts, civil society, and development partners to discuss innovative financing solutions, community-led restoration, and pathways for ensuring local communities are empowered as leaders in climate action.
