Investor Rights as a Barrier to Climate Action

This event will discuss the issue of Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) as a global barrier to the adoption of a just transition, threatening the action needed to meet the Pacific's demands for keeping warming under 1.5 degrees. It will highlight the experiences of ISDS globally, in Australia with both extractive industry cases but also legislative proposals, and the Pacific Islands through deep-sea mining. Speakers will link their interventions to the possibilities for more government cooperation to exit from ISDS and the upcoming TAFF2 Conference.
