Public transport and COP31: mode shift's climate moment?

Switching more journeys to public and active transport is one of the best ways to reduce transport emissions and improve access, equity and liveability across our cities at the same time. But does the climate discussion reflect this? At the start of the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026 - 2035, this engaging session will explore how to accelerate mode shift - and give it a prominent role in climate negotiations. Transport industry leaders from Australia and New Zealand will share practical examples and policy insights, asking: how can we build momentum for public transport’s climate moment? Chaired by the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand (PTAANZ), bringing government-led transport authorities, transport operators, advisory firms and research together.
