Renewable Energy for Climate Resilience: Lessons from Remote Papua New Guinea

Across remote Papua New Guinea, renewable energy is transforming the ability of communities to adapt to climate change. This session will explore practical lessons from community-led initiatives that combine renewable energy with education, health and climate resilience. Through examples including mini-grids attached to KTF’s educational facilities, household solar, innovative battery replacement models and strategies to keep schools operating during the current El Niño drought, panellists will discuss how integrated, locally-led approaches are strengthening resilience, improving essential services and creating sustainable pathways for communities facing an increasingly uncertain climate.
